Upstream Hospice

Saw this article and thought about building on the core of hospice home-based services to serve the community. Maybe it looks like Palliative Care, or PACE, or a Home Health Agency, or Home Care (i.e., private duty medical / non-medical) – or maybe it looks like home-based primary care. Not sure how the billing / business plan works, but thought it is an interesting idea… (Article from 6/27/21 Hospice News Today.)

Carolina Caring launches home-based primary care service
Hickory (NC) Daily Record; June 26, 2021
Newton, NC—Carolina Caring has launched a new home-based primary care service, Carolina Caring House Calls. Designed to increase health-care access for patients who are experiencing a serious illness, the program will serve patients living in Mecklenburg, Rowan and Cabarrus counties starting July 1 with plans to expand the program to additional counties in western North Carolina later this year. “So many of our patients have faced challenges accessing routine medical care,” says Dave Cook, president and CEO of Carolina Caring. “Some patients may have trouble walking or moving as they age, while others may be facing debilitating medical conditions that make it difficult to leave their homes. Whatever the issue, we want to make health care as accessible as possible so patients can live their best life.”
